Ricky had such a good heart!
I really enjoyed reading your memorial for Ricky. It brought back many good memories of him and tears to my eyes.
My father was Calden Paul Perrillioux, he died at a very young age. He was your dad's uncle. My sister and I lived near my mother's family and were raised away from the Perrilliouxs. When I was 16, a cousin of mine on my mom's side, went bowling and met some "cute" guys (that was Ricky and Neal Perrillioux, (smiling)). Once they got to talking they discovered that we were related! My cousin shared the news and Ricky and Neal came to meet and visit us shortly afterward. This was tremendous especially for me as I looked like my dad and missed him terribly after he died, even without really knowing him or living with him at the time, my heart ached for him as a child and I cried very often for him. My mother did not know what to do... Anyway, once we met Ricky and Neal, we found it strange how much Ricky and I resembled each other. I have a great photo of us at that time.
Although distance kept us from being too close your dad did stop by to visit us from time to time during the years ahead and he and I sat and had long conversations a few times. He was a very deep person and very in tune to his personal accomplishments and to the impact he made on others, wanting to live a good life, be a good dad and at the time, a good husband too. His love for you kids and your mom was very apparent in our few conversations (this was way after the age of 16, this was in mine and his twenties). I did visit you all once, Lynn and Uncle Oliver once or twice and made my grandmother's funeral and a wedding too for one of my cousins...
I know your dad would be so pleased and proud to know that he left such a positive footprint on your lives and that your love is so strong.
If anyone in the family would like to reach me my email is viewable. I have not visited since Katrina. My home flooded and I love Aunt Lynn and Uncle Oliver's phone number. I always meant to look them up, but you know how life gets in the way some time. Now I live all the way in Atlanta, so that makes visiting even more difficult, but my love is with all of "my perrilliouxs". Do you know I constantly get told that my name is beautiful? Do you all get that too? My middle name is Paula after my dad, his was Paul. I always thought my dad had a beautiful name too. I would have named my son after him if I had ever had one... I see Ricky's middle name was Paul too.
I pray that God is taking good care of you all and keeping you near his heart providing you with much deserved love, comfort and happiness.
Give everyone my love, especially Aunt Lynne, Uncle Oliver, Neal, Oliver and his precious daughter Olivia!
